CHARACTER NAME: Gilgamesh
CHARACTER AGE: Gilgamesh is never given an official age. As he's a Servant (the spirit of a hero summoned into a spiritual form after his death), he's been dead for millennia, so age in the human sense would technically not really apply. I tend to say "~4000 years" because I count from when he would've historically been alive during the time of his Epic.

CANON POINT: Right before the final, Time Temple Singularity.

*My reasoning for this canon point is that I want to take him from FGO's main timeline proper, but I am not as familiar with the events of FGO following this Singularity, such as the Lostbelts. As a general note, even though the Time Temple seems to come immediately after Babylonia, there's an interlude in FGO, the King's Day Off, which shows Gilgamesh interacting with other Servants at the compound. The compound is full of Servants and it can be tricky to assume who he would/wouldn't know given how vast and intricate the FGO relationships are, so I plan to play it by ear and work it out with fellow FGO players on a case by case basis.

SUITABILITY: I am choosing this particular flavor of Gilgamesh [Caster] because he's summoned from a Singularity in which his role is to quite literally oversee the resistance of humanity against a variety of threatening forces which have allied to eradicate its existence. The primary drivers of these forces are Gorgon, a goddess who wields the Authority of Tiamat, then also the actual Tiamat [primordial mother goddess and Beast/Evil of Humanity]. Both goddesses spawn monstrous "offspring" (ugallu and lahmus), and Gilgamesh, along with the visitors from Chaldea and the Servants he's summoned, are basically the opposition to these monsters.

So, given that Gil's whole role in his Singularity was to lead a resistance movement for the sake of the remnants of humanity, I think he'd be right at home with this game's premise of fighting kaiju to safeguard the world's remaining humans. He could lend his strength and his treasury of weapons/his powers to LILITH, but I think Babylonia also showcases the fact that Gilgamesh is a strategic thinker and he would also be an asset in terms of coming up with clever and specific means of opposing kaiju. In Babylonia, he is shown to have overseen the creation of the Fangs of Napishtim to resist Tiamat's Chaos Tide, as well as the dingirs, which he powers with magical energy from his own body. As far as LILITH's methods... Gilgamesh is a morally grey character and was an authoritarian tyrant in his younger years who framed his tyranny in terms of being "the north wind" who would remonstrate humans, presumably for their own good, so I think there's plenty of canon precedent that he can hang with shady methods. Even as a Wise King, he does things like bribing Ishtar to join the rebellion. He has a sort of pragmatism that can be a bit mercenary, so I think it'd be interesting to see how he would react to LILITH. I'm not planning to play him as plotting against -- that isn't the kind of arc I'd want to play in a game like this, anyway.

• Funny:
He yucks it up a lot, but also has plenty of entertaining lines himself.

• Outgoing:
Gil is pretty social for a guy who staunchly refuses to take on anyone with the title of "Friend"

• Wise:

This is Gilgamesh much later in his life, after he's journeyed the world and "seen the deep," acquiring wisdom

Bad Traits

• Temperamental:
When he first sees Ritsuka and Mashu, he challenges them to a fight and insists he wants nothing to do with them. Merlin remarks that he's in a bad mood. So CasGil still has a moody/ornery side.

• Rude:
Not as much so as his younger/Archer incarnation, but Gilgamesh still casually dubs people "fools"/"foolish", "mongrels," etc.

• Bullying tendencies:
For example, his treatment of Ishtar, when she disappoints him and he makes her wear a sign that says "I'm a useless goddess"

• Heedless/Reckless in certain ways:
Accidentally dies from working himself to death. He can be unmindful or just uncaring of his own boundaries.

POWERS & SKILLS:
• Gate of Babylon: Fundamentally the same Noble Phantasm he possesses as an Archer. By connecting the space around him with Babylon, he pulls out an innumerable amount of magic wands and mystic code and utilizes magic. In the magic wands and Mystic Codes, the great thaumathurgy of the age of the gods is loaded. Due to the display of effects and invocation that mostly does not consume the user's magic energy, it is a Noble Phantasm that excels in its extraordinary cost performance.
  [I will note that I also play him using his hammerspace to store various other things besides weapons, since there is indication he does this. In this game, I'm planning to have him put futuristic weapons there and also treat it like a general storehouse.]


• Melammu Dingir A long-range bombardment from the citadel of Uruk. A prodigious cannon fire that concentrates not only Gilgamesh’s own, but also the total force of the people of Uruk that lived in the Age of Gods. In Fate/Grand Order, after the entire attack on the enemy, it has the effect of increasing his allies' defensive strength.


• Sha Naqba Imuru Spreading through the corners of the earth just like the radiance of a star, he sees through everything; the oldest of heroes, the King of Heroes, Gilgamesh. This is his spirituality, turned into a Noble Phantasm. He sees through be it the enemy's True Name or Noble Phantasm, or even the truth concealed in multiple layers by simply a glance. Normally a continuously active Noble Phantasm, but in FateGO its True Name release is not performed.


• Golden Rule Gilgamesh automatically attracts wealth. It's another sort of passive/latent power.
  NERFED POWERS: He obviously won't have Melammu Dingir here, since it relies on a construction present in Uruk, and I figure he won't have the clairvoyant or infomodding aspects of Sha Naqba Imuru. I'm planning to play the latter as he's just very keen/perceptive. For his Golden Rule, I'm planning to play it as he has good luck with money and a lot of business savvy, etc. -- basically skills and insights and good fortune rather than powers specifically. Gate of Babylon will have the typical 30% nerf. If there are any other adaptations I need to make, please let me know, as I'm willing to modify things as necessary!
  PERSONAL ITEM: Due to the unique nature of Gil having his own hammerspace, this may be a bit superfluous, but in the interests of focusing on something non-weapon-centric, I am going to say the Flower of Humbaba, a flower crown Gilgamesh left with his friend, Enkidu. I choose this item for its symbolic significance for his friendship with Enkidu.
  ALTERNATE IDENTITY: Gorgeous P! That's the "civilian identity" he assumed during the 2018 ServaFes. For occupation, either a shopkeeper or anything to do with managing idols/entertainment or capital -- anything flashy and management oriented in Neo-Tokyo is fine. I'm still getting a feel for the game world, but that's my thought going in!
